Congress MLAs protest outside assembly demanding declaration of drought in state

Ranchi: The MLAs of the Congress party led by their legislature wing leader Alamgir Aalam protested outside the assembly during the Monsoon Session demanding that the state be declared drought-hit.

The Congress MLAs who carried ply cards containing slogans related to declaring the state drought-hit, provide 24 hours of power, release the payment for crop insurance scheme and end the harassment of Christians also indulged in slogan shouting in favour of their demands.

Later Mr Aalam said that the state was staring a drought but despite that, the state government has not taken any steps to solve the problems of the farmers. He said that the Congress party had raised the issue earlier also and will continue to do the same inside the assembly also.

Mr Aalam said that despite claims of the government even the Pradhanmantri  Kissan Samman Nidhi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Krishi Aashirwad Yojana have not proved beneficial for the farmers. He also demanded that the state government for crop insurance scheme and provide 24-hour power supply in the state.

On the other Lohardaga MLA Sukhdeo Bhagat raised the issue of 40 percent students who have passed matriculation this year but still have not managed to secure admission in the intermediate due to faulty grading policy of schools implemented by the government. He also alleged that the state topper in matriculation exam has not got admission outside.
