Deoghar Administration Steps Up Preparedness as Heavy Rain Warning Issued

The Deoghar district administration has stepped up preparedness measures following a heavy rainfall warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ranchi, for the coming days.

Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania has directed all concerned departments and executive engineers to remain on alert and ensure that relief and rescue arrangements are in place to deal with any situation arising from heavy rain.

The Irrigation Division has been asked to maintain round-the-clock monitoring of all major and minor reservoirs in the district, including Budhai, Sikatiya and Punasi. Officials have also been instructed to immediately launch relief and rescue operations in the event of damage to kutcha houses, fallen trees or waterlogging that blocks roads.

Departments concerned have been directed to make advance arrangements to minimise possible damage to crops, horticulture and plantations, particularly in areas vulnerable to flooding.

The administration has also ordered special arrangements to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supplies. Alternative measures are being planned to maintain essential services in case electric poles are damaged or power supply is disrupted.

The Additional Collector and District Disaster Management Officer will maintain continuous coordination with all departments to monitor the situation and ensure a prompt response.

Sub-Divisional Officers in Deoghar and Madhupur have been instructed to activate 24x7 control rooms so that complaints, emergencies and requests for assistance can be addressed without delay.

The District Public Relations Officer has also been asked to share weather alerts, safety advisories and information related to relief and rescue operations through social media and the press. The move is aimed at ensuring that residents receive timely and reliable information while preventing the spread of rumours during the adverse weather conditions.

The administration has urged all departments to remain prepared and respond promptly to any weather-related emergency.
