Jharkhand-Cadre IPS Officer Sanjay A. Lathkar Appointed DG (Security) in Department of Atomic Energy

Senior 1995-batch IPS officer Sanjay A. Lathkar of the Jharkhand cadre has been given a key assignment at the Centre. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment as Director General (Security) in the Department of Atomic Energy.

The order approving the appointment was issued on September 15. According to the order, Lathkar will hold the post at Level-16 and is scheduled to continue in the position until September 30, 2028, unless his tenure is curtailed or modified through a subsequent government order.

To facilitate his appointment, the post of Inspector General (Security), which was earlier placed at Level-14, has been temporarily upgraded to Level-16.

Lathkar is a senior IPS officer of the Jharkhand cadre and has held various responsibilities during his career. His new assignment places him in a key security role within the Department of Atomic Energy, one of the Union government's strategically important departments.

The appointment brings a senior Jharkhand-cadre police officer into a central government role involving security responsibilities linked to the country's atomic energy establishment.
