JPSC-JSSC Exam Cancellation Case: High Court Hearing Today, Thousands of Aspirants Await Clarity

The Jharkhand High Court is set to hear a batch of petitions on Tuesday challenging the state government's decision to cancel several major recruitment examinations and appointments conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

The hearing is scheduled before Justice Deepak Roshan at 12:15 p.m., with thousands of candidates closely watching the proceedings. The outcome could have a significant bearing on the careers of candidates who have already cleared the examinations and, in some cases, received appointments.

The case involves the cancellation of the JPSC 11th to 13th Combined Civil Services examinations and the appointments of more than 342 selected officers. Petitions challenging the cancellation of the JSSC CGL-2023 examination process are also part of the proceedings. The court is additionally expected to hear matters concerning the cancellation of the Food Safety Officer (FSO) and Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) examinations.

The state government has been directed to submit a detailed response, while both JPSC and JSSC have already filed their respective counter-affidavits. The court is also likely to take note of the status report submitted in connection with the ongoing CID investigation into alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.

Another issue that could come up during the hearing is the payment of salaries to recently appointed employees, whose service status has been affected by the cancellation decision.

The High Court had earlier granted an interim stay on the government's cancellation order. It had also raised questions over the removal of regular employees without conducting individual inquiries or giving them an opportunity to present their case.

With the court now set to examine the matter in greater detail, today's proceedings are being closely watched by both selected candidates and those awaiting the outcome of the disputed recruitment examinations.
