25-Foot Pandal Sets the Stage for Five-Day Ganesh Festival on Ranchi’s Kachhari Road

The five-day Ganesh festival has begun on Kachhari Road in Ranchi, with the Gajraj Puja Mahasamiti organising a grand celebration marked by traditional rituals, devotional programmes and a specially designed 25-foot pandal.

The festival began on Monday morning with prayers and rituals performed according to traditional customs. Along with Gauri and Lord Ganesha, Varun, Surya and the Navgrahas were also worshipped during the puja.

The highlight of this year’s celebration is the grand pandal, which measures around 25 feet in both height and width. The structure has been designed to reflect elements of ancient Indian traditions and has already begun attracting devotees and visitors.

The organisers have planned evening aarti and prasad distribution on all five days of the festival. In a special initiative this year, local residents will also participate in the bhajan programme along with members of the bhajan mandali, allowing devotees to become part of the devotional performances rather than simply watching them.

According to the schedule announced by the committee, Mahabhog will be organised on September 15, followed by a Mahabhandara on September 17. The celebrations will conclude on September 18 with the immersion of the Ganesh idol at Chadri Pond.

Committee members are working to ensure smooth arrangements throughout the festival. President Vicky Verma, working president Hiru Singh, treasurer Abhishek Singh, founder-cum-patron Santosh Singh, assistant treasurer Rajesh Verma, vice-president Bholu Lakra, chief adviser Shiv Prakash Singh, patron Sanjay Singh and convenor Shashi Sharma are among those overseeing the arrangements.

With devotees already turning up in increasing numbers, the Kachhari Road pandal is expected to see greater footfall during the evening hours, when the aarti and devotional programmes will add to the festive atmosphere.
