Prince Khan’s Brother Bunty Khan Arrested in Kolkata

Police have arrested Bunty Khan, brother of alleged Dhanbad gangster Prince Khan, from Kolkata after receiving information that he was allegedly preparing to leave the country using a fake passport.

According to police, Bunty Khan had been staying in Kolkata and was reportedly planning to travel abroad to join his absconding brother. He was allegedly trying to obtain a passport using forged documents when the police tracked him down.

Dhanbad SSP Prabhat Kumar reportedly received confidential information about Bunty Khan’s whereabouts and his alleged plans to arrange a fake passport. Acting on the information, a special police team was formed and a raid was conducted in Kolkata, leading to his arrest.

Bunty Khan was subsequently brought to Dhanbad, where police are questioning him. Investigators are trying to establish who helped him arrange the alleged forged documents and whether other people were involved in the plan to leave the country.

Police said Bunty Khan has previously been named as an accused in several criminal cases. More than a dozen cases are reportedly pending against him, including the high-profile Nanhe murder case.

Bunty Khan was earlier arrested along with two associates from a railway station in Uttar Pradesh in March 2022. He remained in jail for around four years before being released on bail in January this year.

The Nanhe murder case dates back to November 24, 2021, when Mahtab Alam alias Nanhe, a resident of Dhanbad’s Naya Bazar area, was shot dead. The name of Prince Khan subsequently surfaced in connection with the case, following which police intensified action against his alleged network.

Bunty Khan’s latest arrest has now brought renewed focus on the alleged overseas links of Prince Khan’s network and the means being used by its members to evade law enforcement.

Police are expected to examine the alleged fake passport arrangement, identify those who may have assisted Bunty Khan and investigate whether his planned departure was connected to a larger network. The details emerging from his interrogation could provide further leads into the activities and whereabouts of people associated with Prince Khan.
