Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar has secured the 18th position in a national list of the top 25 IPS officers released by Fame India magazine, bringing recognition to Jharkhand at the national level.

Kumar is the only IPS officer from Jharkhand to feature in the list, according to the magazine.

With extensive experience in the police service, Kumar has served in several key positions, including Superintendent of Police in Ramgarh and Pakur and Senior Superintendent of Police in Jamshedpur. During his postings in different districts, he has handled various challenges related to policing and crime control.

Since taking charge as Dhanbad SSP, Kumar has focused on curbing crime, particularly organised criminal activities. Police action against alleged organised crime networks, including that of notorious criminal Prince Khan and his associates, has been intensified.

The police have also taken action against properties allegedly linked to proceeds of crime, including initiating attachment proceedings in several cases.

Special drives have been conducted to apprehend absconding and wanted criminals, while efforts have also been made to execute pending warrants and expedite the disposal of old cases.

Apart from crime control, the Dhanbad police have focused on improving the response to public complaints and reducing pendency in cases. Efforts have also been made to strengthen the efficiency of police personnel and improve overall policing mechanisms.

Kumar's inclusion in the national list has been viewed as a significant achievement for the Dhanbad Police.

Fame India is a non-political digital and print magazine that features individuals who have made notable contributions in areas including administration, policing, education, social service and industry. The magazine periodically publishes special surveys and rankings based on the work and achievements of individuals across different fields.

In its latest list of the top 25 IPS officers in the country, Kumar has secured the 18th position. His inclusion as the lone IPS officer from Jharkhand has been seen as a notable recognition for both the state and Dhanbad Police.
