Ramgarh DC Takes Surprise School Inspection, Assesses Students’ Learning Skills

Ramgarh Deputy Commissioner Rituraj conducted surprise inspections of three government schools in the district on Thursday, directly interacting with students and taking stock of teaching standards, school facilities and the implementation of government education programmes.

The Deputy Commissioner visited Government Upgraded High School Bankheta (Hare Tola), Government Upgraded High School Dohakatu and Government Upgraded High School Chhattarmandu. During the inspections, he reviewed classroom teaching, smart classes, sports facilities, gardening, drinking water, cleanliness, midday meals and the maintenance of school records.

In an unusual approach, Rituraj stepped into classrooms and took on the role of a teacher himself. Standing in front of the digital board and blackboard, he asked students questions based on their syllabus to assess their understanding, reading ability and overall academic proficiency.

He also interacted with the students about their studies and encouraged them to attend school regularly, remain disciplined and work consistently towards their academic and personal goals.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the functioning of smart classes and directed school authorities to ensure that digital learning facilities are used regularly and that all students benefit from technology-based teaching.

He also inspected the sports facilities and stressed that regular physical activities are essential for the overall mental and physical development of children. School authorities were directed to make better use of available sports infrastructure and promote sports activities among students.

The condition of gardens and plantation areas on the school campuses was also reviewed. Rituraj instructed the schools to give greater attention to gardening and plantation so that the campuses remain clean, green and conducive to learning.

The quality of midday meals was another key area of the inspection. The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure that students receive fresh, nutritious and good-quality food every day as per the prescribed menu and schedule.

During the inspection, irregularities were found in the maintenance of attendance and other school registers. The Deputy Commissioner also pointed out shortcomings related to examinations and student performance under the Rail Project and Project Impact initiatives.

Taking a serious view of the lapses, he directed that show-cause notices be issued to the teachers in charge of the concerned schools and sought explanations for the deficiencies.

District Education Officer Abhay Kumar was instructed to take necessary steps to improve school infrastructure, correct deficiencies in official records and strengthen the overall academic environment.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed teachers to ensure that the prescribed syllabus is completed within the stipulated time and that half-yearly examinations are conducted according to schedule.

Rituraj gave officials a strict 10-day deadline to rectify all shortcomings identified during the inspections and submit a compliance report. The inspections are expected to reinforce accountability at the school level while ensuring that government education facilities translate into better learning outcomes for students.
