Janmashtami Celebrations Bring Krishna’s Stories to Life at Deoghar School

Divine Public School 10+2 in Deoghar celebrated Janmashtami with enthusiasm on Thursday, with students presenting colourful cultural performances based on the life and stories of Lord Krishna.

The school campus took on a festive and devotional atmosphere as students portrayed Krishna's childhood leelas and presented episodes highlighting the triumph of good over evil.

The programme began with devotional presentations, followed by an enactment of Kansa Vadh, depicting Lord Krishna's victory over the tyrannical king Kansa. The performance was well received by the audience.

Students also presented the Narasimha Avatar, showcasing the legendary battle between Lord Narasimha and the demon king Hiranyakashipu. Through the performance, the students conveyed the traditional message of the victory of righteousness over evil.

Radha-Krishna-Yashoda ramp walk becomes highlight

One of the major attractions of the celebration was a colourful ramp walk featuring students dressed as Radha, Krishna and Yashoda.

The young participants appeared in traditional costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere. Parents also joined their children and participated enthusiastically in the programme, making the celebration more interactive and memorable.

The cultural programme continued with a series of devotional and mythological performances by students. The event concluded with a lively group Dandiya dance, with students and parents taking part together.

Principal highlights cultural learning

Principal Dr Mamta Kiran said that celebrations such as Janmashtami provide children with an opportunity to learn about Indian culture, traditional values and mythology in an engaging way.

She said such activities also encourage students to express their creativity, build confidence and develop their talents beyond the classroom. She appreciated the students, teachers and parents for their collective efforts in making the celebration successful.

The programme ended on a joyful and devotional note, with the school campus resonating with music, dance and the festive spirit of Janmashtami.
