Ramgarh DC Inspects Dumping Yard, Sets 30-Day Deadline for Legacy Waste Clearance

Ramgarh Deputy Commissioner Rituraj inspected the dumping yard at Murramkala to review the ongoing work to remove and scientifically dispose of legacy waste, or garbage that has accumulated at the site over a long period.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner sought details from officials and agencies involved in the project regarding the progress of waste lifting, transportation and disposal. He directed all concerned agencies to work in coordination and complete the cleaning and disposal of the accumulated waste at the dumping yard within 30 days.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that improving urban sanitation requires more than regular door-to-door garbage collection. Clearing old waste that has accumulated over the years and ensuring its proper scientific disposal are equally important for maintaining a cleaner and healthier urban environment.

He also directed officials to regularly monitor the entire waste-management chain, from collection and transportation to final disposal, to ensure that waste does not accumulate again.

Door-to-door garbage collection resumes

Meanwhile, door-to-door garbage collection in the Ramgarh Municipal Council area resumed on September 1, 2026.

Under the renewed system, waste is being collected regularly from households and transported for appropriate disposal. The administration has urged residents to make full use of the collection service instead of dumping household waste on roadsides, in drains or in open spaces.

Residents have also been asked to separate wet and dry waste before handing it over to collection vehicles. Proper segregation at the household level can improve the efficiency of waste processing and reduce the amount of waste ultimately sent to dumping sites.

Appeal for public participation

The Deputy Commissioner said the administration and the municipal council alone cannot ensure a clean Ramgarh without active public participation. He appealed to residents to follow waste-management rules and take responsibility for keeping their neighbourhoods clean.

The clearance of legacy waste from the Murramkala dumping yard, combined with the resumption of door-to-door collection, is expected to strengthen Ramgarh's overall solid-waste management system. The 30-day deadline will now be closely watched to assess whether the accumulated waste is cleared within the stipulated period.

The Executive Officer of the Cantonment Board, Executive Officer of Ramgarh Municipal Council and other officials were present during the inspection.
