Ramgarh Tightens Road Safety Measures, Orders Action Against Encroachments and Overspeeding

The district administration has decided to step up measures to improve road safety and ease traffic congestion in Ramgarh. A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held at the District Collectorate on Saturday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rituraj, with Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat also present.

During the meeting, officials reviewed ongoing measures to prevent accidents in the Chutupalu Valley, one of the key accident-prone stretches in the district. The Deputy Commissioner sought a detailed update on the safety measures already in place and directed officials to ensure that the lights installed in the valley remain functional and are regularly inspected.

He also called for additional road safety signboards in the valley and stronger measures to control vehicle speeds. Officials were directed to take steps against overspeeding, install high-mast lighting at appropriate locations and ensure that CCTV cameras remain operational.

The administration also stressed the need to identify black spots on roads and undertake corrective measures at these locations to reduce the risk of accidents. The authorities were asked to closely monitor accident-prone stretches and strengthen preventive arrangements rather than waiting for accidents to occur.

The meeting also reviewed pending cases related to hit-and-run accidents. Deputy Commissioner Rituraj directed District Transport Officer Rajesh Ekka to ensure the speedy disposal of all pending cases under the hit-and-run compensation scheme so that affected families can receive financial assistance without unnecessary delays.

To curb road accidents as well as illegal transportation, the Deputy Commissioner ordered intensive vehicle-checking drives at various locations across the district. Strict action is also to be taken against two-wheeler riders found driving without helmets.

A special focus was placed on the 'No Helmet, No Petrol' campaign. The Deputy Commissioner directed all petrol pumps in the district to strictly follow the rule and deny fuel to two-wheeler riders who do not wear helmets.

Addressing the problem of traffic congestion in the town, the administration also directed officials to remove encroachments from roads and ensure that public roads remain clear for smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

Senior district officials and representatives of various departments concerned with road safety and traffic management attended the meeting.
