Administration Steps Up Preparations for Bhado Mela 2026 in Deoghar

The district administration has intensified preparations for Bhado Mela 2026, with a focus on ensuring a safe, orderly and comfortable pilgrimage experience for devotees visiting Baba Baidyanath Temple.

A review meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Administrator of Baba Baidyanath Temple, Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya. Representatives of the Panda Dharmarakshini Sabha, pilgrimage priests and officials from various departments took part in the meeting and discussed arrangements for the upcoming mela.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to place the convenience and safety of devotees at the centre of their preparations. He called for strict attention to law and order, sanitation, healthcare, electricity and drinking water facilities.

Bhuvaniya also warned that negligence in providing services to devotees would not be tolerated. To deal with the expected rush, additional sanitation workers will be deployed around the temple premises, while regular sanitisation will be carried out to maintain hygiene.

Medical camps and adequate ambulance services will also be arranged so that devotees can receive prompt medical assistance in case of illness or emergencies.

Information and Assistance Centres Planned

To help pilgrims navigate the mela arrangements, information-cum-assistance centres will be established at important locations around the Baba Baidyanath Temple.

These centres will provide information on lost and found persons, route maps, timings for arghya offerings and other arrangements related to the pilgrimage. The initiative is expected to be particularly useful for devotees unfamiliar with Deoghar or visiting during peak hours.

The Panda Dharmarakshini Sabha thanked the district administration for the arrangements made during the recently concluded Rajkiya Shravani Mela and assured the administration of its continued cooperation for Bhado Mela.

Representatives of the Sabha said the Panda community would work alongside the administration to ensure that devotees receive better facilities and a smoother pilgrimage experience.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar, Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner Sulochana Meena, Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, the Civil Surgeon, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Traffic DSP and executive engineers from the Drinking Water and Sanitation and Electricity departments.

The District Sports Officer-cum-Assistant Temple In-charge, Assistant Public Relations Officer and officials and personnel from other concerned departments were also present.

With Bhado Mela expected to draw a large number of devotees, the administration’s emphasis is on strengthening arrangements before the festival begins, so that crowd management, basic amenities and emergency services remain effective throughout the pilgrimage period.
