L.B. Singh’s Brother and Brother-in-Law Seek Another 20 Days to Appear Before ED

Coal businessman L.B. Singh’s brother Vishw Vijay Singh and brother-in-law Ranjit Kumar Singh did not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday as directed. Both have written to the agency seeking an additional 20 days to appear for questioning.

Vishw Vijay Singh was scheduled to appear before the ED on August 25, while Ranjit Kumar Singh had been summoned for August 24. This is the second time that both have sought additional time from the agency.

Earlier, the two had requested one month each to comply with the summons. After considering their requests, the ED had granted them an extension of one week instead.

When they first sought additional time, both cited the illness of their mother and brother as the reason for their inability to appear before the agency.

However, their statements during the ED raids had also raised questions. One of them had reportedly said that he had neither met nor spoken to his mother for nearly 10 years, while the other had stated that he had strained relations with his brother.

The latest requests for an additional 20 days are now before the ED for consideration.
