Gumla Holds Entrepreneur Awareness and Special Vendor Development Programme to Promote Local Businesses

An Entrepreneur Awareness and Special Vendor Development Programme was organised in Gumla under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dileshwar Mahto, with a focus on promoting local entrepreneurship and connecting young people and aspiring entrepreneurs with self-employment opportunities.

Addressing the programme, Mahto said the government is implementing several schemes to encourage entrepreneurship at the local level and help young people and other interested individuals establish sustainable livelihoods. He urged entrepreneurs to learn about these schemes and make full use of the financial and technical assistance available to them.

The Deputy Commissioner said greater participation of local entrepreneurs in government procurement could help businesses expand while also creating new employment opportunities within the district. He encouraged entrepreneurs to complete the formal registration of their enterprises and take advantage of the support available through government programmes and institutions.

The programme provided detailed information on various schemes of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), including the National SC-ST Hub scheme. New entrepreneurs were briefed on the importance of Udyam registration, while existing businesses were informed about vendor registration with government institutions, required documentation, tender procedures and procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

Participants were also informed about credit facilities, financial assistance and other support available to help businesses expand. Officials explained the provisions of the Public Procurement Policy and how local enterprises could participate in government purchasing opportunities.

Representatives from public sector undertakings, banks, the District Industries Centre, Government e-Marketplace and training institutions interacted directly with entrepreneurs during the programme. They provided practical information on vendor empanelment, government procurement procedures, financing options, capacity building and business expansion.

The technical session was particularly focused on helping entrepreneurs understand how to navigate government procurement and institutional purchasing systems. Participants were able to raise questions and seek information directly from representatives of the concerned departments and institutions.

The programme was attended by Indian Chamber of Commerce President Subir Paul, General Secretary Hema Ekka, representatives of the National SC-ST Hub, Ranchi, and officials and representatives from various government departments and institutions.

The initiative provided local entrepreneurs with an opportunity to understand the support ecosystem available to them and establish direct communication with institutions involved in government procurement, finance, training and enterprise development.
