Teacher Returns Lost Phones, Cash and Jewellery During Shravani Mela Duty in Deoghar

Dr Parshuram Tiwari, a writer, educationist and faculty member at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Jasidih, has set an example of honesty and responsibility while performing duty during the ongoing Shravani Mela in Deoghar.

While carrying out his duty, Dr Tiwari recovered around 20 mobile phones, cash estimated at Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000, two anklets and two earrings that had been lost by devotees. Instead of keeping the belongings with him, he ensured that they were formally announced and deposited through the prescribed procedure so that they could be traced and returned to their rightful owners.

The recovered belongings were reportedly associated with devotees who had travelled from several places, including Prayagraj, Chhattisgarh, Patna, Lucknow, Bengal, Kolkata and Begusarai.

Dr Tiwari also helped reunite two children who had become separated from their parents during the large gathering. In addition, several other lost mobile phones and cash belonging to devotees were deposited at the mela control room for safekeeping.

He said the heavy rush and continuous duty schedule made it difficult to photograph every recovered item. However, the belongings recovered during the initial phase were properly recorded and deposited in the magistrate room.

A small act that can make a big difference

The Shravani Mela attracts a large number of devotees, making the loss of mobile phones, cash, jewellery and other personal belongings a common concern. For pilgrims travelling from distant parts of the country, losing essential items can create significant difficulties.

By ensuring that recovered valuables were documented and handed over to the designated authorities, Dr Tiwari helped create an opportunity for devotees to recover belongings that could otherwise have been permanently lost.

His efforts, along with his role in reuniting two children with their families, have been appreciated as an example of honesty, compassion and responsible public duty during one of Deoghar's busiest religious gatherings.
