Jharkhand to Begin Air Hostess and Ground Crew Training from Next Month

Jharkhand is set to begin specialised training for air hostesses, flight stewards and ground crew from next month, opening up new aviation career opportunities for young people in the state.

The selection interview process for admission to the Diploma in Aviation and Management course has been completed by the Air Hostess and Ground Crew Training Department of the Jharkhand Flying Institute, which operates under the state government's Civil Aviation Department.

The training programme is expected to commence next month. The initiative comes after years of efforts to establish employment-oriented aviation training facilities within Jharkhand, allowing aspiring candidates to acquire industry-specific skills without having to travel outside the state.

A large number of candidates participated in the selection interviews conducted under the vision and guidance of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. During the selection process, candidates were assessed on their educational qualifications, communication skills, proficiency in English, confidence, personality and interest in the aviation sector.

Officials said the selection process was conducted in a fair and transparent manner in accordance with prescribed standards.

Captain S.P. Sinha, Managing Director of the Jharkhand Flying Institute, said the aviation industry is expanding rapidly across the country, creating increasing employment opportunities in various segments.

He said the institute's priority is to provide young people from Jharkhand with quality professional training within the state and prepare them according to the requirements of the aviation industry.

Trained candidates could find career opportunities in airlines, airports, ground-handling companies, passenger services and aviation hospitality, among other areas. However, employment opportunities will depend on individual qualifications, industry requirements and recruitment by airlines and other aviation-sector organisations.

Captain Sinha said the institute's objective is not merely to provide certificates but to equip students with professional competence, communication skills, discipline, personality development and industry-oriented capabilities.

The Jharkhand Flying Institute has already started training for the Commercial Pilot Licence, and the addition of cabin crew and ground staff training is expected to further expand its aviation-related programmes.

Following completion of the interviews, the first merit list of selected candidates is likely to be published on the official website of the Jharkhand Flying Institute in the last week of August. Selected candidates will subsequently receive information regarding admission and the training programme through the prescribed communication channels.

The launch of the programme could provide Jharkhand's youth with a new pathway into the rapidly growing aviation and airport services sector, while also strengthening the state's aviation skill-development ecosystem.
