Mohanpur police arrested a youth on Monday after he was allegedly found trying to find buyers for a stolen tractor and motorcycle near a hill close to Chulhiya High School.
According to police, Deoghar Superintendent of Police received information at around 11.15 am on August 24 that a man was attempting to sell a red Mahindra tractor and a Honda Shine motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.
Acting on the information, a police team from Mohanpur police station reached the area and conducted a search. During the operation, officers recovered a red Mahindra tractor without a registration number and a Honda Shine motorcycle whose registration number had allegedly been rubbed off.
Police arrested Pramod Kumar alias Pramod Kumar Yadav, son of Shankar Yadav and a resident of Piramoh under Mohanpur police station.
A case has been registered at Mohanpur police station as Case No. 140/2026, dated August 24, under Sections 317(4) and 317(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The accused was produced before a court and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Police said the accused was already facing another criminal case. Taljhari police station Case No. 46/26 was registered against him on August 19 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The recovery of both vehicles and the arrest were made during a raid conducted by SI Sandeep Krishna, officer-in-charge of Mohanpur police station, SI Manendra Kumar, ASI Mukesh Kumar Singh and a local chowkidar.
Police are now investigating the origin of the recovered vehicles and trying to ascertain whether the accused was linked to a wider network involved in the theft and resale of vehicles.
