51.12 Lakh Devotees Offer Water to Baba Baidyanath, Temple Earns Rs.8.23 Crore

Deoghar: A weekly press conference on Rajkiya Shravani Mela 2026 was held at the temporary media centre at R.L. Sarraf under the joint chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya and Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar. The Deputy Commissioner said 51,12,531 devotees had offered water at Baba Baidyanath Temple between July 30 and August 21, including 1,90,887 devotees through Sheeghra Darshanam. The temple generated total revenue of ?8,23,47,741, while the 60 per cent share from Sheeghra Darshanam collections stood at ?6,87,19,320.

For security, 925 CCTV, 225 AI cameras and five drone cameras are operational. A total of 597 magistrates and officials and 6,763 police personnel have been deployed. The mela also has four SPs, three CRPF companies and NDRF/SDRF teams. Accommodation has been arranged at 77 locations.

The health department has deployed 111 doctors, 470 paramedical staff, 16 general ambulances, 24 ambulances under 108 service and six jeeps. As many as 1,80,562 devotees received treatment at 35 temporary health centres between July 30 and August 19, while the overall medical treatment figure stood at 33,224.

The Information and Public Relations Department has set up 34 information centres, where 88,328 missing and found Kanwariyas were registered and 71,198 were reunited with their families. A total of 220 announcers, 45 women for maternity rest facilities and five e-rickshaws have been deployed. Six cultural stages have also been arranged.The mela area has 48 bathing facilities, 323 toilets, 16 Indravarsha units, 76 hand pumps and nine drinking water points. The electricity department has 39 control rooms, 10 substations and two emergency teams.

The Municipal Corporation collected ₹1.065 crore, while state entry tax collection stood at ₹70.09 lakh and commercial tax collection at ₹310.58 lakh.The administration expects a heavy influx of Kanwariyas on the final Monday. SP Praveen Pushkar said 21 temporary police outposts and 13 traffic outposts have been established, along with ATS, RAF, bomb disposal, dog squad and QRT teams. 52 DSPs, 92 inspectors, 758 assistant inspectors and 1,110 armed police personnel have been deployed. Some mobile phones were recovered and suspected pickpockets arrested during the week.

Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner Sulochana Meena, Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, District Public Relations Officer Rahul Kumar Bharti and Assistant Public Relations Officer Rohit Kumar Vidyarthi were present along with other officials and media representatives.
