Senior Citizens’ Day Celebrated at Sanchar Old Age Home in Gumla

A special programme was organised at Sanchar Old Age Home in Gumla on the occasion of Senior Citizens’ Day, with guests and members of the old age home coming together to honour elderly residents and recognise their experience and contribution to society.

Gumla Municipal Council chairperson Shakuntala Oraon, vice-chairperson Ramesh Kumar Chini, All NGO Association Gumla district president and Mayuri Trust Gumla director Basant Kumar Gupta, Sanchar Old Age Home superintendent Premchand Sahu, along with Jyoti Kumari, Shilpa Kumari, Dr Pathak, Shweta Kumari, Ram Naresh Prajapati, Indu Devi and other senior citizens of the home were present at the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Municipal Council chairperson Shakuntala Oraon said senior citizens deserve respect and care from every section of society. She noted that every person grows older with time and may one day reach the same stage of life. She emphasised that younger generations can learn valuable lessons from the experiences of elderly people.

Oraon also assured the residents of the old age home that she would extend all possible support to address their needs.

Municipal Council vice-chairperson Ramesh Kumar Chini also stressed the importance of respecting senior citizens. He said their years of experience can provide valuable guidance to younger generations and help society move forward.

Chini assured the residents that he would extend assistance to the old age home whenever required.

Basant Kumar Gupta, president of the All NGO Association's Gumla district unit and director of Mayuri Trust Gumla, extended his greetings and best wishes to all the senior citizens on the occasion.

Sanchar Old Age Home superintendent Premchand Sahu welcomed the guests and briefed them about the activities and programmes being conducted at the institution.

The event highlighted the importance of ensuring dignity, companionship and continued social support for senior citizens, while also recognising the knowledge and life experience they bring to the community.
