A delegation of the six-member Central Parliamentary Sub-Committee constituted to examine the revival of Heavy Engineering Corporation Limited (HEC), Ranchi, met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residential office on Kanke Road on Friday.

The meeting focused on HEC's current financial and operational situation and the steps that could be taken to revive the public sector engineering company. The delegation and the Chief Minister held detailed discussions on the challenges facing HEC and possible future plans for restoring its operations.

The parliamentary delegation included Vijay Hansda, along with Rajya Sabha MP and committee chairman Tiruchi Siva. Rajya Sabha MPs Sult? Deo, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Hansmukhbhai Somabhai Patel and Chandan Chauhan were also present during the meeting.

The visit assumes significance as HEC, one of Ranchi's major industrial establishments, has been facing prolonged operational and financial challenges. A revival plan is expected to be important not only for the company and its employees but also for the wider industrial ecosystem associated with HEC.

The parliamentary sub-committee has been visiting Ranchi to assess HEC's condition and understand the issues affecting its functioning. After studying the corporation on Thursday, the committee members also met Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar.

The discussions with both the state government and the Governor are expected to provide the panel with inputs from different stakeholders before it prepares its assessment and recommendations on HEC's revival.
