All 18 donation boxes installed on the premises of Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar were opened on Thursday under the supervision of the temple administration and amid tight security.

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya said the counting process resulted in the recovery of Rs 17,88,138 in Indian currency from the donation boxes.

The offerings also included foreign currency, reflecting the temple's appeal among devotees from neighbouring countries and abroad. Officials found Nepalese currency worth Rs 6,730, along with one Bhutanese currency note and 20 Thai currency notes.

After the boxes were opened, the collected money was transported to the temple's administrative building, where it was counted and kept in safe custody.

The entire process was conducted under the supervision of temple officials and with strict security arrangements in place to ensure transparency and prevent any irregularity during the counting and handling of the offerings.

The recovery of foreign currency also highlights the international reach of Baba Baidyanath Temple, one of the prominent Shiva pilgrimage centres in India and an important religious destination in Jharkhand.
