Police have arrested a man in connection with the alleged theft of electrical wires in the Kurkuriya area under Pithoria police station in Ranchi. Four bundles of stolen electrical wire were recovered from the accused, while a tempo allegedly used in the crime was also seized.
According to police, information was received about the theft of electrical wires in the Kurkuriya area. Acting on the directions of senior officials, a team led by Pithoria police station in-charge Satish Kumar conducted a raid in the area.
During the operation, police arrested 32-year-old Kausar Ansari, who was allegedly named as an accused in the case. Four bundles of electrical wire were recovered from his possession. The police also seized tempo number JH01CE4668, which was allegedly used in connection with the theft.
Ansari is a resident of Saher Basti under Nagri police station area. After completing the formalities, police said he was being sent to judicial custody. Further investigation into the case is underway.
Police have also said that Ansari has a previous criminal record. Cases under different sections were registered against him at Nagri police station in 2015, 2024 and 2025.
The recovery of the wires and seizure of the vehicle could help investigators determine whether the accused was involved in other similar thefts and whether additional people were part of the alleged network. Police are also continuing their investigation to establish the source of the stolen material and identify any other suspects.
The raiding team included Pithoria police station in-charge Satish Kumar, Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar Das, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramesh Kumar and armed personnel from Pithoria police station.
