Police have arrested two alleged members of a motorcycle theft gang and recovered 13 motorcycles during a special operation in Meherma area of Godda district. The operation was carried out following a tip-off received by the Superintendent of Police, Godda.
According to police, the information indicated that Bhola Pandit, allegedly involved in several motorcycle theft cases in Meherma, had arrived in the Bhaggaia area along with his associate Abhishek Kumar to steal another motorcycle.
Acting on the information, the Superintendent of Police formed a special raiding team. Police detained both suspects and questioned them. During interrogation, they allegedly revealed that they had been stealing motorcycles from different locations in Godda and Sahibganj districts of Jharkhand as well as Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
Police said the stolen motorcycles were subsequently taken to areas around Bhagalpur and sold to people who were not known to the accused.
13 motorcycles recovered
Based on information allegedly provided by the two suspects, police recovered 13 motorcycles linked to different theft cases. One of the recovered motorcycles was allegedly being used by the accused in connection with their activities.
The recovered vehicles include:
Six Hero Splendor Plus motorcycles
Four Hero Super Splendor motorcycles
Two Hero Glamour motorcycles
One Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle
Two master keys
Two Vivo mobile phones
Police subsequently formally arrested both suspects.
Accused identified
The arrested suspects have been identified as 30-year-old Bhola Pandit, son of late Shiv Kumar Pandit, a resident of Kumhar Tola in Purani Sahibganj under Nagar police station in Sahibganj district, and 19-year-old Abhishek Kumar, son of Amaresh Kumar Mandal, a resident of Ramrai Bagh, Khuntahari, under Kahalgaon police station in Bhagalpur district of Bihar.
Bhola Pandit has several cases registered against him
According to police records, Bhola Pandit has a long criminal history involving cases registered in Jharkhand and Bihar.
His listed cases include several cases related to robbery, illegal arms, criminal conspiracy and motorcycle theft. Among them are cases registered at Meherma, Mahagama, Kahalgaon, Borio (Jirwabari), Nagar Sahibganj, Boarijor and Lalmatia police stations.
Four recent cases registered at Meherma police station under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) are also listed against him. These cases were registered on June 21, July 25, August 1 and August 3, 2026. Additional cases under the same section are listed at Boarijor and Lalmatia police stations.
Abhishek also named in several recent cases
Police said Abhishek Kumar is also named in six cases, including four registered at Meherma police station and one each at Boarijor and Lalmatia police stations. All six cases listed against him relate to Section 303(2) of the BNS.




Special team conducted the operation
The raid was conducted by a special team comprising officers from several police stations in Godda district.
The team included Meherma police station in-charge Saurabh Kumar Thakur, Boarijor police station in-charge Ashish Kumar Yadav, Balbadda police station in-charge Pankaj Kumar Singh, Thakur Gangti police station in-charge Rajan Kumar Ram, Basantrai police station in-charge Satyadeep, Hanwara police station in-charge Vikas Kumar, along with officers from Meherma police station including Manoj Kumar Nirala, Raj Kishore Sharma, Manoj Kumar Ranjan, Rajesh Kumar Pandey and Ramesh Kumar.
Virendra Mandal and the Meherma police station reserve guard were also part of the operation.
The recovery of 13 motorcycles is expected to help police investigate multiple vehicle theft cases and identify other people who may be connected with the alleged network. Police are also likely to examine the recovered vehicles and other evidence to establish their links with individual cases.
