29 Jharkhand Police Personnel to Receive Gallantry and Service Medals on Independence Day

Morabadi Ground will witness more than the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag on Independence Day this year. The state-level celebration will also honour police personnel who have demonstrated exceptional courage, dedication and commitment to duty.

At the main Independence Day function on August 15, Chief Minister Hemant Soren will confer medals on 29 officers and personnel of the Jharkhand Police. The awards include one President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, five Police Medals for Gallantry and 23 Police Medals for Meritorious Service. The Centre had announced the medal recipients earlier.

Kailash Prasad Shrestha to receive President’s Medal

Sub-Inspector Kailash Prasad Shrestha of JAP-1, Ranchi, is the lone recipient from Jharkhand of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service this year. The award recognises his significant contribution and dedicated service in the police force.

Five personnel selected for gallantry medals

Five police personnel have been selected for Police Medals for Gallantry for displaying exceptional courage while performing their duties.

The recipients are Sub-Inspector Vinay Kumar of Latehar, Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar Rai of IRB-4, Latehar, constables Ved Prakash Mahto and Ramchandra Kumar Mahto of Latehar, and constable Krishna Murmu of Jamtara.

Their selection reflects acts of bravery and determination demonstrated during challenging operational duties.

23 personnel to receive medals for meritorious service

The list of 23 recipients for Meritorious Service includes officers and personnel serving in several important police units and districts across Jharkhand.

Among them are IG Dr Michaelraj S, A. Vijayalakshmi, DIG Anuranjan Kispotta, Special Branch DSP Neeraj Kumar and Inspector Arun Kumar from Communication and Technical Services.

STF personnel ASIs Arvind Kumar Palit, Vashisht Kunwar, Sanjeev Kumar Jha and Vijay Kumar will also receive the award. Driver Head Constable Mohammad Iqbal, Windray Mundari, JAP-10 women constables Manti Khalkho and Prabha Devi are also among the awardees.

The list further includes Manoj Kumar Rai of ATS, ITS Inspector Asit Kumar Modi, Ranchi district ASI Deepak Punj, CID ASI Mahendra Mahto and STF head constable Vijay Thapa.

JAP-10 woman head constable Ranjita Kujur, Garhwa constable Videshi Manjhi, Chatra constable Ajay Kumar Dubey, JAP-10 woman constable Pushpa Odaya and Gumla constable Deepak Kumar Singh will also be honoured for their meritorious service.

A salute to courage and commitment

The felicitation of these 29 police personnel will add a special dimension to the Independence Day celebrations at Morabadi Ground. While the occasion will commemorate India's freedom, the recognition of these officers and personnel will also highlight the continuing role of the police force in maintaining security, responding to challenges and serving the public with courage and dedication.
