J'khand students' protest: BJP MLAs protest outside Assembly, demand CBI probe

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs on Thursday staged a protest outside the Jharkhand Assembly, accusing the state government of failing to take decisive action over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) and other agencies.

The BJP legislators demanded the cancellation of examinations facing allegations of malpractice and called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.

The protest came amid a continuing agitation by students and job aspirants in Jharkhand, with the Opposition stepping up its criticism of the Hemant Soren-led government over the issue.

Speaking to IANS, BJP MLA Neera Yadav questioned the government's handling of allegations that have surfaced in recruitment examinations over several years.

"For the last six years, irregularities have continuously been reported in examinations. So why was the government sleeping all this time?" she asked, alleging that the government had become active only after the BJP began supporting the protesting students and raising the issue publicly.

Yadav also questioned the decision to order a CID investigation, arguing that the agency comes under the state government. She claimed that an earlier CID investigation had failed to establish which company was responsible for the alleged irregularities.

BJP MLA Roshan Lal Choudhary expressed solidarity with the protesting students and praised them for maintaining discipline during their agitation.

He said the BJP would continue to support the students and work to ensure justice for them.

BJP MLA Kumar Ujjwal Das also accused the government of delaying decisive action while thousands of students remained uncertain about their future.

He questioned why the disputed examinations had not been cancelled and demanded a CBI investigation instead of a CID probe.

BJP MLA Navin Jaiswal similarly called for the cancellation of all examinations facing allegations of irregularities and demanded a CBI investigation under judicial supervision.

Jaiswal said students had been protesting peacefully for nearly two weeks despite difficult conditions, including heat, rain and hunger.

He demanded the immediate cancellation of the 11th to 14th JPSC examinations and a High Court-monitored CBI investigation into examinations conducted by the company accused of involvement in the alleged irregularities.

Meanwhile, the student agitation led primarily by JPSC aspirants has intensified. Despite continuous overnight rainfall, protesters remained at the protest site and refused to withdraw their agitation.

The students have maintained that their movement will continue until the government takes concrete action on their demands.
