Jamshedpur: In a proactive move to address the persistent shortage of small change in the market, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCI ) has continued its coin distribution campaign, ensuring smoother day-to-day business transactions for traders.
As part of the initiative, coins worth Rs 3 lakh in Rs 2 denominations, procured with the support of Bank of India, Bistupur branch, were distributed among Chamber members on Monday.
The effort is aimed at mitigating the difficulties faced by small traders who often struggle with the unavailability of coins during routine transactions.
Chamber president Manav Kedia emphasized the practical challenges faced by traders, stating, “The shortage of coins has been a recurring issue affecting daily business operations. Through this campaign, we are working closely with banks to provide a practical and immediate solution, ensuring that market activities continue without disruption.”
Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, Vice-President (PRW) Abhishek Agarwal noted, “The availability of coins not only simplifies transactions but also strengthens small-scale livelihoods that depend on cash exchanges. Our goal is to extend the benefits of this campaign to as many members as possible.”
He further informed that coins worth approximately Rs 40 lakh have already been distributed under the drive so far.
Secretary (Trade & Commerce) Bharat Makani reiterated that the Chamber plans to expand the initiative in collaboration with multiple banks to ensure a sustained solution to the issue.
“We are committed to scaling up this effort in response to members’ demand, so that the problem of small change can be effectively resolved in the long run,” he said.
Officials from Central Bank of India, including Amit Kumar De, were also present and addressed the gathering.
Several key office-bearers and committee members of the Chamber actively participated in the campaign, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening market infrastructure and supporting the trading community.
