Police seize 50 Kg Ganja, arrest two interstate traffickers from Baharagora

Jamshedpur: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, police in the Baharagora police station area have seized 50 Kgs of illegal ganja and arrested two interstate smugglers.

The contraband is estimated to be worth approximately  Rs 25 lakh in the international market.

A Tata Punch car used in the smuggling operation has also been impounded.

According to official sources, the Senior Superintendent of Police received specific intelligence inputs about a consignment of ganja being transported from Odisha to Bihar via Baharagora in a brown-colored vehicle.

Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a special task force was constituted under the direction of the Rural SP and led by the SDPO of Ghatshila.

The police team launched an intensive vehicle-checking drive near Kaliyabinga Chowk.

During the operation, a suspicious vehicle was intercepted and searched in the presence of a magistrate, following due procedures under the NDPS Act.

The search led to the recovery of two plastic sacks from the car’s trunk, containing 25 packets tightly sealed with brown tape.

The total weight of the seized ganja was found to be 50 Kgs.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Bhim Yadav and Raj Kumar Pal.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that the consignment was sourced from the Barakul area of Odisha and was intended for supply in Bihar.

Police have also seized the vehicle, cash, and mobile phones from the accused.

A deeper investigation is underway to unravel the wider interstate drug trafficking network and identify other individuals involved in the operation.
