
Deoghar: Preparations for the State Shravani Mela 2026 were extensively reviewed as Santhal Pargana Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, DC Naman Priyesh Lakra and SP Saurabh conducted a detailed inspection of the fair area on Saturday. The inspection covered Dardmara, Shivram Jha Chowk, Nehru Park, Shivganga, Queue Complex, B.Ed College, the new ISBT at Baghmara and Kothia, along with the Dumma Kanwariya path up to Devpura, Bank, Sarasani and Dardmara Gate. Officials closely examined ongoing and proposed works and issued necessary instructions to the concerned departments.During the inspection, arrangements related to administrative camps, police outposts, health centers, power supply, information and assistance centers, holding points, toilets and bathing facilities along the Kanwariya path were reviewed. Special emphasis was laid on improving facilities at key locations including the Queue Complex, Integrated Control Room, Nehru Park, Tiwari Chowk, B.Ed College and Jalsar Park.Following the inspection, a review meeting was held at Deoghar circuit house under the chairmanship of the Commissioner. It was highlighted that a large number of devotees from across the country and abroad visit Baba Baidyanath Dham during the Shravani Mela, making it essential to ensure smooth arrangements and safety. All departments were directed to enhance coordination and improve facilities for the devotees.
The meeting reviewed works related to municipal services, health, public relations, electricity, road construction, tourism, police and disaster management. The DC, through a presentation, analyzed past experiences and stressed better planning for this year. Priority was given to electricity, drinking water, healthcare, sanitation and security arrangements. Strengthening rest houses and information centers along the Kanwariya path was also emphasized.The DC instructed all departments to complete allotments, tender processes and physical works within the stipulated timeline to avoid last-minute issues. The SP briefed about the security and traffic management plans for the fair.
The Commissioner stated that the Shravani Mela is among the top priorities of the state government and district administration. The aim is to further enhance Deoghar’s international image by ensuring world-class facilities across the fair area.The meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner Rohit Sinha, Additional Collector Hira Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, along with officials, engineers and municipal team members.
