
Deoghar: A tense situation prevailed in Aastha Nagar near Nandan Pahad under Nagar Police Station limits after a group of miscreants unleashed violence on Wednesday evening. According to local accounts, dozens of youths gathered in the locality, created a ruckus, and began pelting stones at houses. When residents objected, the attackers allegedly resorted to lathis and iron rods, injuring several people, including women and children. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information, but the accused had already fled.
Acting swiftly, police detained one accused and launched raids to nab others involved in the incident. In a written complaint submitted to the police, victim Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary stated that Rajan Lal 30, Abhishek Yadav 28, along with Ashish Yadav, Piyush Singh, Shashank Kumar and 30-40 unidentified persons assembled outside his house, hurled abuses and created chaos. As soon as his son Avinash Kumar opened the door, the group allegedly forced entry into the house armed with rods and sticks, and attacked him with an intention to cause serious harm.
During the assault, when family members tried to intervene, a woman identified as Vikas Chaudhary’s mother was also hit with stones and injured. The attackers reportedly damaged a car parked outside by smashing its windows and attempted to loot household belongings.
Residents have alleged that the main accused is involved in illegal liquor supply and carried out the attack to establish dominance and spread fear in the locality.Locals have demanded strict action against all accused. Police said the matter is under investigation and efforts are underway to arrest the remaining culprits.
