Jamshedpur shocker: Injured youth succumbs after brutal Chhayanagar attack

Jamshedpur: A chilling case of violence in the Sitaramdera police station area of Jamshedpur took a tragic turn on Thursday as Sunny Pushti, who had been battling for his life for nearly a week, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Tata Main Hospital.

The incident, which occurred near a community hall in Chhayanagar, involved a brutal assault combining gunfire and sharp-edged weapons.  As news of Sunny’s death spread, grief quickly turned into anger, with family members and local residents staging a massive protest inside the hospital premises, demanding swift and comprehensive justice.

The bereaved family alleged that the attack was carried out by more individuals than those already arrested.  Protesters made it clear that their agitation would continue until all accused are apprehended.

Earlier, on April 4, police had arrested four key accused Karan Verma, Nirbhay Singh alias Chhotka, Kunal Munda, and Santosh Verma—from Mango Bus Stand during an operation led by City SP Kumar Shivashish.

A pistol and three choppers were recovered during the operation. The attack dates back to the night of March 31, when Sunny and his associate Nandu Lohar were targeted over an old dispute.

The assailants allegedly opened fire before attacking them with sharp weapons, leaving Sunny critically injured. The incident has since cast a shadow of tension over the locality, with residents demanding heightened security and prompt action against all those involved.
