Daring gunfire attack on BJP leader’s house sparks alarm in Adityapur

Jamshedpur: Adityapur woke to a chilling display of brazenness on Tuesday morning when unidentified assailants opened fire at the residence of a local BJP leader Sapan Kumar Das, triggering fear and outrage in the locality. 

The incident took place  around 7 AM at  the Saldih Basti area near the ESI Hospital, at a time when the household was going about its routine activities.

Das, a prominent local figure and founder of the Shri Shri Janmashtami Puja Committee and Agradoot Sangh, has long been regarded as an influential presence in the region.

 The sudden burst of gunfire not only targeted his residence but also unsettled the surrounding neighbourhood.

The attack was captured in clear detail by CCTV cameras installed at the premises. 

The footage reportedly shows two men arriving at the spot and firing three rounds towards a window before fleeing swiftly. 

A third accomplice is believed to have been waiting nearby on a scooter, facilitating their escape.

The incident came to light when tenants residing in the house alerted Das, following which two empty cartridges were recovered from the scene. 

Police from Adityapur Police Station promptly arrived, secured evidence, and initiated an investigation. 

Authorities are now relying on the CCTV footage to identify the attackers, with preliminary indications suggesting the involvement of local youth s, though the motive remains unclear.

This incident has once again cast a spotlight on the deteriorating law and order situation in the area, especially in light of an earlier shooting at Sanjay Electronics in Adityapur's Chunabhatta area  that remains unresolved. 

The recurrence of such violent episodes has led to growing unease among residents, who are now demanding swift arrests and a visible strengthening of security measures to restore a sense of safety.
