
Deoghar. In a major action against cyber crime, police arrested 10 accused from different parts of the district on April 2, 2026. The operation was carried out under the direction of SP Saurabh and led by DSP Raja Kumar Mitra.According to police, a secret tip-off was received that a group of individuals was involved in online fraud by posing as fake customer care officials. Acting on the information, a team was formed and raids were conducted at multiple locations, leading to the arrest of all accused.During investigation, it was revealed that the accused used to impersonate officials of Flipkart, Amazon, Airtel Payment Bank and other services to deceive people. They uploaded fake mobile numbers on Google as PhonePe customer care and contacted victims to carry out fraud. They also targeted people by sending fraudulent links in the name of PM Kisan scheme and SBI credit card services.The arrested accused have been identified as Yugal Kishor Napit, aged about 20 years; Shivanandan Mandal, aged about 31 years; Gautam Kumar Das, aged about 25 years; Sunil Kumar, aged about 23 years; Laltaf Ansari alias Iltaf Ansari, aged about 23 years; Abid Ansari, aged about 23 years; Khurshid Ansari, aged about 23 years; Hasim Ansari, aged about 24 years; Nasrul Ansari, aged about 30 years; and Dulal Kumar Das, aged about 28 years. All are residents of different police station areas in Deoghar district.
Police recovered 15 mobile phones, 18 SIM cards and 4 cloned SIMs from their possession. Preliminary investigation confirmed that these items were being used for cyber fraud activities.The raid team included Cyber Police Station officer Ajay Kumar, Sarwan police and armed forces personnel. Police are now investigating the entire network and searching for other persons involved in the racket.
