Jamshedpur: ACC Limited, a key player in the diversified Adani Portfolio, is driving a quiet green revolution in the agrarian pockets of Dhanbad by facilitating solar-powered irrigation systems in Chhatatand and Samlapur villages.
The initiative, aimed at empowering small and marginal farmers, has enabled the installation of 5 HP solar irrigation systems across more than 15 acres of farmland.
By harnessing renewable energy, the project ensures reliable and uninterrupted irrigation, even in areas plagued by erratic electricity supply.
Farmers are already witnessing tangible benefits. The transition from diesel-powered pumps has significantly reduced fuel dependency, leading to cost savings of up to Rs 30,000 per season per farmer.
Additionally, the availability of consistent irrigation is supporting multiple cropping cycles, resulting in improved yields and enhanced income stability.
Beyond economic gains, the initiative carries strong environmental dividends. Each solar pump is estimated to cut carbon emissions by nearly 1.5 tons annually, contributing to more climate-resilient agricultural practices in the region.
The success of the project is also rooted in community engagement. Awareness drives and training sessions have helped farmers adopt the technology with confidence.
“Now we don’t worry about diesel or power cuts. We can farm when we need to,” shared a beneficiary farmer, reflecting the transformation on the ground.
Through this effort, ACC reinforces its commitment to sustainable development—where clean energy not only powers fields but also secures livelihoods and strengthens rural resilience.
