Ankur Singh elected Deputy Mayor of Adityapur Municipal Corporation

Jamshedpur: A new chapter in the civic administration of Adityapur began on Monday as the newly elected Mayor and all 35 ward councillors of the Adityapur Municipal Corporation formally assumed office during a swearing-in ceremony held under the supervision of the district administration.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Kolhan Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan Kumar Vikram, officially marking the commencement of the new municipal administration in the industrial township of Adityapur.

Soon after the oath-taking ceremony, the process for electing the Deputy Mayor was initiated in accordance with the schedule issued by the district authorities. 

The election proceedings were conducted at the Seraikela Collectorate Auditorium in a structured and transparent manner.

During the process, councillors submitted nomination papers along with proposal and support letters for their respective candidates. 

After scrutiny of the documents and completion of the withdrawal phase, the final list of candidates was released, paving the way for voting among the councillors.


Following the voting process, Ankur Singh secured victory and was elected as the Deputy Mayor of the Adityapur Municipal Corporation.

Ankur Singh comes from a prominent political background and is the nephew of former Ichagarh MLA Arvind Kumar Singh.

To ensure that the election was conducted smoothly and in a fair manner, the district administration had deployed senior officials to oversee the process. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan Jaivardhan Kumar served as the Returning Officer for the election. 

Kharsawan Block Development Officer Pradhan Manjhi and Rajnagar Circle Officer Shravan Kumar Jha assisted him as Assistant Returning Officers.

With the successful election of the Deputy Mayor, the executive structure of the Adityapur Municipal Corporation has now been fully constituted for the next five-year term.

Officials expressed hope that the formation of the new civic body will help accelerate governance, improve municipal services, and push forward key development initiatives in Adityapur, one of the fastest-growing industrial townships in  Kolhan region.
