Deoghar. In a significant action against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested two employees of the District Land Acquisition Office in Deoghar while allegedly accepting a bribe. The operation was carried out in connection with the release of compensation funds for land acquired under the Ring Road project.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Senior Clerk Niranjan Kumar and Attendant Nunudew Yadav. According to information, both were allegedly demanding a five percent commission from a beneficiary for processing and releasing the compensation amount. Acting on a verified complaint, the ACB laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed during the exchange of money. The bribe amount was also recovered by the team.
The action began after a beneficiary lodged a complaint with the ACB, stating that his compensation payment was pending and that he was being pressured to pay money for its release. Following verification of the complaint, the bureau confirmed the allegations and planned the operation accordingly.
After the successful trap, the ACB team arrested both accused employees and took them to Dumka for further legal proceedings and interrogation.
It is noteworthy that large-scale land acquisition is underway in Deoghar for the Ring Road project. As per regulations, farmers and landowners whose land has been acquired are entitled to receive fair compensation. The incident has raised concerns about transparency in the compensation process, and further legal action is in progress.
