Young Entrepreneur Kairav Gandhi, Abducted from Jamshedpur 14 Days Ago, Rescued Safely

Jamshedpur: Kairav Gandhi, the 24-year-old son of prominent Jamshedpur businessman Devang Gandhi, who was kidnapped 14 days ago, has been safely rescued, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

He returned to his residence in Jamshedpur at around 4.30 a.m. Police said he was recovered from a location between Hazaribagh in Jharkhand and Gaya in Bihar.

Jamshedpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey confirmed the successful rescue, stating that ensuring the victim’s safety was the police’s highest priority. He added that raids and technical investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible, and all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined.

Kairav Gandhi, a resident of the CH area in Jamshedpur, was abducted on January 13 between 11.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. after leaving home in his Creta car. He had informed his family that he would visit the SBI Bank in Bistupur, then go to his company in Adityapur, and return home for lunch.

When he failed to return by 1.45 p.m. and his mobile phone was found switched off, the family began searching for him. Soon after, they received a call from a foreign number demanding a ransom of Rs 5 crore, which was later reported to have increased to Rs 10 crore.

In response, Jharkhand Police formed seven Special Investigation Teams (SITs) that carried out raids across Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha. Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra also visited Jamshedpur two days ago to review the progress of the investigation.

Although Kairav Gandhi’s safe return has brought relief to the city, it remains unclear whether his release was solely due to police action or family efforts. Police are expected to share more details soon.
