Ranchi: Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS), Ranchi celebrated its founder, Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda’s 133rd Janmotsav. Celebrations began in the morning with a special commemorative group meditation and a talk on “Guru: Speaking Voice of Silent God” by Swami Shraddhananda Giri. This programme was live-streamed on the Yogoda Satsanga Online Dhyan Kendra through Zoom App. in which thousands of devotees joined from across the world.
This was followed by joyous chanting of bhajans led by Brahmacharis Bhaskarananda and Kaivalyananada along with Guru puja and yajna at the Shiv Mandir. The highlight of the day was a bhandara for devotees as well as people from the city of Ranchi and neighbouring villages. The celebrations concluded with a special meditation in the evening.

The spiritual organization founded by Yoganandaji marks his Janmotsav every year with meditation, kirtans, and this bhandara. Like every year this year also locals and other visitors who got to know about the Bhandara through word-of-mouth, participated in large numbers. It commenced at 12 noon and went on till late afternoon, long queues started forming at the gate of the ashram leading to a huge maidan inside where scores of YSS devotees eagerly served prasad of khichdi, chutney, and laddoo to the guests. More than 10000 persons were served Guru prasad through this bhandara.
In the month of December, the ashram conducted seva activities to honour the Guru by distributing blankets to the poor and needy residents of Angara Village and the leprosy-affected colony (Nirmal Awas, near Mudma) in Ranchi. On 2nd January, the ashram continued these seva activities by providing meals to the poor and needy residents of the leprosy-affected colony in Ranchi.
YSS was founded by Yoganandaji in 1917, to make available, in India and neighbouring countries, the universal teachings of Kriya Yoga, a sacred spiritual science originating millenniums ago in India. Further info.: yssi.org
