Biting Cold and Dense Fog Disrupt Normal Life in Deoghar

Deoghar: The effect of cold winds sweeping across several parts of north India is now being felt in Jharkhand as well, with minimum temperatures in many districts dropping below 10 degrees Celsius. The chill has been more intense in rural areas than in urban centres.

Baba Nagari Deoghar continues to remain under the grip of biting cold and dense fog. Around 6 am, visibility dropped to extremely low levels in several blocks, including Palojori, Sarath, and Madhupur. Thick fog covered the entire region, making movement on roads difficult.

Despite the cold weather and poor visibility, young schoolchildren were seen walking to schools and waiting for buses along the roads. Due to dense fog, motorists were compelled to drive slowly with headlights and fog lights switched on, exercising extra caution.

To cope with the cold, people lit bonfires at public places. In the early morning hours, many were seen warming themselves near tea stalls with the help of makeshift fires. The impact of fog has been particularly severe in rural areas of Deoghar, where visibility at several locations dropped to less than five metres.

According to the meteorological department, cold and foggy conditions are likely to persist over the next few days. The administration has advised people to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and exercise special caution while driving.
