Gautam Adani Says Jharkhand Has Vast Potential; Promises Investments Soon

Dhanbad: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Tuesday stated that Jharkhand, particularly Dhanbad, has enormous untapped potential and is on the path to strong future growth.

At the Centenary Foundation Day of IIT-ISM Dhanbad, Adani told reporters that the state is rich in opportunities and will witness accelerated development in the years ahead.

Responding to questions about investment plans in Dhanbad, he said that the Adani Group will make investments “very soon.”

He emphasised the continued importance of the mining sector. “Many call mining the old economy, but without mining, the new economy cannot exist,” he said.

Earlier, Adani announced that the group is committing over $75 billion to energy transition projects over the next five years, aiming to build the fastest-growing renewable energy company globally.

He explained that the global clean energy shift is set to become a multi-trillion-dollar industry, powering vital sectors such as green steel, green fertilizers, hydrogen production, and infrastructure for AI-driven digital economies.

Adani also questioned a recent COP-30 report that downgraded India’s sustainability ranking, claiming it misrepresented the country’s coal transition commitments.

At IIT (ISM), Deputy Director Prof. Dheeraj Kumar revealed that Adani has offered 50 annual paid internships to third-year students and announced the establishment of an Adani 3S Mining Excellence Centre.

Prof. Kumar thanked him for motivating students with his call to “dream boldly, keep striving, embrace innovation, and help build a self-reliant India.”
