CM Hemant Soren Invited to Inaugurate 4th SAAF Senior Athletics Championships

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren was on Wednesday formally invited to inaugurate the 4th South Asian Athletics Federation (SAAF) Senior Athletics Championships, which will be held in Ranchi from October 24 to 26.

The invitation was extended during a courtesy meeting at the Chief Minister’s residential office by Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar, Sports Secretary Manoj Kumar, Sports Director Shekhar Jamuar, and Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) General Secretary Madhukant Pathak.

The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for October 24 at 6 p.m. at the Birsa Munda Football Stadium, Morabadi. During the meeting, Minister Sudivya Kumar briefed the Chief Minister about the ongoing preparations and arrangements for the prestigious international athletics event.

Chief Minister Soren said that hosting the championship is a matter of pride for Jharkhand and directed officials to ensure that the event is grand, well-organized, and reflective of the state’s rich culture. He added that international tournaments like this enhance Jharkhand’s growing image in sports and help the state establish a strong identity on the global sporting map.
