Lieutenant from Palamu drowns while trying to save jawan in Rajasthan

Daltonganj: Lieutenant Anurag Shukla who hailed from Singra Khurd of Medninagar lost his life as he was drowned in Sriganganagar of Rajasthan.

23 year old Anurag was serving as the Lieutenant in J&K 10 Rifle Battalion and had been posted at Sriganganagar six months ago. The family members of the deceased live in Arogya colony in Pundag Ranchi and it is expected that his body will be brought to Ranchi on Sunday and his final rites would be performed at his ancestral village in Palamu on Monday. According to his relative on Friday afternoon a jawan rifleman Sarvjeet Singh had gone down into for a swimming practice when he started drowning Anurag who was present on the spot jumped to his rescue, though he somehow managed to save the jawan but himself was drowned.

It took almost an hour when Anurag was brought up from the water and was taken to the government hospital at Gajsinghpur where he was declared dead by the doctors at around 5 pm after which his family was informed.
