Deoghar — A 22-year-old youth, Dinesh Kumar Singh, was shot dead by unidentified attackers late Wednesday night in Deoghar city.
The incident occurred near Kunda turn when Dinesh, a resident of Karnibag Mahalakshmi Nagar under Kunda police station limits, was returning home after buying medicines.
Locals reported hearing multiple gunshots and found Dinesh lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Deoghar Sadar Hospital but succumbed to his injuries despite treatment efforts.
According to medical officials, he suffered four bullet wounds — two in the chest, one in the stomach, and one in his hand.
Before dying, Dinesh reportedly named Raja Turi and Kanhaiya Singh, both from his village, as the attackers. His sister, Kiran Kumari, confirmed that the duo had threatened Dinesh over a land dispute a month ago.
Police suspect personal enmity as the motive. Raids are underway to arrest the accused. The body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.
The incident has triggered panic in Padampur village and nearby areas.
