ACB gets NBW against Ranchi bizman in liquor scam probe

Ranchi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), currently investigating the Jharkhand liquor scam, has obtained a non-bailable warrant against Vinay Singh, a well-known automobile dealer in Ranchi and a close associate of IAS officer Vinay Choubey.

According to officials, the investigating officer handling Case No. 9/2025 filed an application through the ACB’s Special Public Prosecutor seeking Singh’s arrest. The court accepted the application and issued the non-bailable warrant.

Following the issuance of the warrant, Vinay Singh’s legal troubles have intensified. The ACB has now launched efforts to trace his whereabouts, with his arrest imminent. Previously, Singh had been served a notice by the ACB for questioning, but he failed to appear before the agency.

Vinay Singh is the proprietor of Nexgen, a prominent automobile dealership in Ranchi. Notably, last year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also raided Singh’s premises in connection with the Chhattisgarh liquor scam.

The ACB’s investigation into the Jharkhand liquor scam has already led to the arrests of several high-profile individuals. Among those taken into custody are senior IAS officer Vinay Choubey and Gajendra Singh, Joint Commissioner in the Excise Department. So far, five arrests have been made in the case, and a separate investigation is underway against Choubey for alleged disproportionate assets.
