Jharkhand Police detains Patna police team over shooting incident

Ranchi: In an unusual turn of events in Bokaro, Jharkhand Police detained a team of Patna Police. This incident occurred when a team from Patna's Gardanibagh Police Station arrived in Bokaro on Sunday to search for a kidnapped girl. During their investigation, a gunshot was fired, injuring a young man.

Following the incident, local residents became angry, prompting the Jharkhand Police to detain the Bihar police officers from the team at Koderma. The officers detained included trainee sub-inspector Raju Kumar, female constable Ranjana Kumari, and an SSP cell employee, Avnish.

The incident unfolded when the Patna Police team, in a private vehicle, reached Sector-4 in Bokaro to search for the kidnapped girl. While searching, they showed a photo of the girl to Vivek Kumar, a fruit vendor near Lakshmi Market. However, Vivek denied recognizing her. During the questioning, the police allegedly fired a shot, which hit Vivek on the shoulder and then ricocheted, injuring the girl's brother.

The gunshot caused panic in the area, leading to an enraged reaction from local residents. The police team was forced to retreat, and later, upon receiving information, Jharkhand Police acted swiftly and detained the Bihar Police team and eight other individuals, including the girl's father, uncle, and two drivers.
