Ranchi: Panic spread across the Sasang Middle School in Chandwa block of Latehar district on Saturday when a swarm of honeybees attacked students during school hours. Over 20 children sustained injuries in the incident, with one reported to be in serious condition. Two teachers were also stung in the attack.
According to reports, the bees had built a hive on the second floor of the school building. The attack occurred while students were watering plants in the school premises. Without warning, the bees swarmed and began stinging children and staff.
The injured students were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The sudden attack caused chaos on the campus as students ran into classrooms to seek shelter.
School authorities have launched an internal review of the incident, and steps are being taken to remove the hive and ensure such an incident does not recur.
