Notification issued for second phase of polling on 4 Lok Sabha seats on Jharkhand

Ranchi: Notification was on Wednesday issued for the second phase of polling on the four Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand including Koderma, Ranchi, Khunti (ST) and Hazaribagh. Addressing a press conference state’s chief electoral officer L Khiyangate said that with the issue of notification the process of filing of nominations has commenced on these four seats.

He said that on the first day 4 (four) nomination papers have been sold in Koderma, 6 (six) in Ranchi, 5 (Five) in Khunti and 2 (Two) in Hazaribagh. He said that the last date of filing of nominations on these four seats is April 18 while scrutiny will take place on April 20 and the candidates can withdraw their names by April (22). Voting on these four seats will be held on May 6. Mr Khiyangate said that the total number of voters on Koderma seat is 17,797,37 which included 9,41, 353 men, 8,38,369 female voters and 15 third gender voters. On Ranchi Lok Sabha seat the total number of voters was 18,55,535 which included 9,70,465 male, 8,85,010 female and 60 third gender voters. 

Similarly, in Khunti the total number of voters was 11,74, 643 which included 5,89,866 male, 5,84,770 female and 7 third gender voters and in Hazaribagh, the total number of voters was 16,35,509 which consisted of 8,69,616 male,
7,65,881 female and 12 third gender voters. Adding further he said that total number of new voters in the age group of (18-19 years) on these seats jointly stand at 71, 203. He said that the election commission has completed all the preparations for the filing of nominations on these four seats.
