JMM asks CEO to sack govt official campaigning for BJP

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has written a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer demanding that the director of the social media cell of the Chief Minister be sacked immediately and an FIR for violation of model code of conduct be registered against him. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya today said that in an order issued dated March 1, 2019 by the IPRD Sourav Bhardwaj has been appointed as the director of the social media cell of the Chief Minister from February 20, 2019.

He said that payment to him is being paid by the department and even through his facebook page the man is confirming his appointment on the post which clearly shows that he is an officer of the state government and despite that, he was campaigning for the BJP.

He pointed that there are many posts on his Facebook page which confirm the same and the man in question also claims that he is the secretary of the IT cell of the BJP which is not only cheating but also morally wrong. He said that it is a violation of the model code of conduct that any officer is openly campaigning for any party and pointed that in the previous Rajya Sabha polls a police officer had done the same work due to which the election commission has moved him out of the state but other officials are doing the same.
