1st phase of elections in Jharkhand: 8 candidates file nomination, 7 nominates papers sold

Ranchi: In the first phase of the nominations (Election Commission of India Fourth Phase) for the three Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand including Chatra, Lohardaga and Palamu eight candidates filed their nominations while seven nomination papers were sold. On Chatra seat three candidates filed their nominations including Subhash Yadav of the RJD, Sagar Ram of Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha and Pankaj Ranjan of the Jharkhand People’s Party.

On the other hand, two nomination papers were sold. In the last four days, three candidates have filed their nominations while a total of 22 nomination papers have been sold. On the Lohardaga (ST) seat, Shravan Kumar Panna of the Bahujan Samajwadi party and Independents Ikush Dhan and Anand Paul Tirkey filed their nomination papers before the district electoral officer while two nomination papers were sold. In the last four days on Lohardaga seat four candidates have filed their nominations while a total of 11 nomination papers have been sold. In Palamu two candidates including Satyendra Kumar Paswan of Bhartiya Samanta Samaj Party and Independent Vijay Ram filed their nominations while in the last four days a total of 19 nomination papers have been sold.

Overall since the start of the nomination process on these seats so far 9 candidates have filed their nominations while a total of 52 nomination papers have been sold. The last date of filing of nomination on these three
seats is April 9 while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on April 12. Candidates can withdraw their names till April 12 while voting will take place on April 29.
