Dhanbad: On the instructions of Jharkhand Police Headquarters, Bokaro Range DIG Surendra Jha has conducted the raid against illegal coal business.

The DIG team conducted raids in Petarwar, Balidih of Bokaro district and Barwadda, Sonardih, Mahuda and Bhatdih areas of Dhanbad district late on Sunday night.

During this time, the police team has recovered four coal loaded trucks, one JCB, and about 150 tonnes of coal. Further action is underway in this matter.

Illegal mining of coal is taking place in 13 districts of Jharkhand.

These include Latehar, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Dhanbad, Chatra, Giridih, Bokaro, Ranchi, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Palamu and Jamtara districts.

During the last two and a half years, 2229 cases have been registered in these 13 districts regarding illegal mining of coal.

The black game of coal takes place in three stages.

In the first phase, the gang members extract coal from closed mines or active mining areas and collect it at one place.

Members of the second gang load the coal collected at a certain place on a bicycle or motorcycle and reach the gang operator.

From where the gang operator loads it on trucks and sends it to Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.

Fake invoices are also prepared to send illegal coal outside the state in a legitimate manner.

Or many vehicles are sent out illegally through a single challan.

Most of the illegal mining of coal takes place from closed and open mines of BCCL, CCL and other coal companies.

Apart from this, illegal mining of coal is also done by re-digging the closed mouths.

In illegal mining, smugglers have also reinstated laborers on a daily wage basis.

There are claims of illegal mining from active mines also.

Mainly the responsibility of stopping illegal mining of coal lies with BCCL, CCL, CISF, ECL, District Administration, Police and Forest Department.
