Principal Secretary to CM Dr. Barnwal takes part in Blood donation camp, urges people to donate blood, save lives

The Jharkhand IAS Officers’ Wives Association (JIASOWA) organised its first blood donation camp at the IAS Club in Deendayal Nagar, Buti Road, Ranchi, on Sunday, collecting 35 units of blood.

The camp was organised to spread awareness about voluntary blood donation and encourage more people to come forward and help patients in need.

Association secretary Richa Sanchita said the initiative was aimed at dispelling misconceptions about blood donation and highlighting its importance in saving lives. She said many patients face serious difficulties because of a shortage of blood and stressed that healthy people can contribute to the community by donating blood.

She also said blood donation is a noble form of service and does not cause weakness or other harm to a healthy donor. Instead, regular and medically supervised blood donation can provide an opportunity for donors to learn more about their own health.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal also donated blood at the camp. He urged healthy people to make voluntary blood donation a regular social responsibility.

Barnwal said many people hesitate to donate blood because of the misconception that it could adversely affect their health. He said such fears are largely unfounded when donation is carried out under proper medical supervision.

He also highlighted that several health-related tests are conducted before blood donation, which can help identify certain health conditions that may otherwise go unnoticed.

“Blood donation can save lives, but its importance goes beyond helping patients in need. It also encourages people to become responsible members of society,” Barnwal said, appealing to people to donate blood and spread awareness among others.

Association secretary Richa Sanchita, joint secretary Manu Jha and senior member Arpana Sharma were among those who donated blood. Chief Minister’s Security Police Superintendent Shailendra Kumar Sinha also participated as a donor.

A team from the RIMS Blood Bank provided medical support during the camp and ensured that the donation process was conducted safely.

The successful organisation of the camp involved the efforts of Richa Sanchita, Manu Jha, former chairperson Sarita Pandey, senior members Mini Singh and Amita Khandelwal, Stefi Teresa Murmu, Jyoti Bhajantri and other members of the association.

The organisers said the initiative was intended not only to collect blood but also to build greater public awareness about voluntary donation and encourage more healthy citizens to participate in future blood donation drives.
